Sinking Deck problem
« on: February 01, 2013, 07:24:41 AM »
Have a deck repair job that I was hoping to get some insight on how to tackle.

10 x 10 deck addition has sunk 1" in 2 months. We have had a lot more rain than usual this summer. June recorded double the normal amount of rain and July is on track to do the same.

triple 2x8 beam sits on (3)4x6 posts 6" sonotube footings 48" deep.

Problem is most likely under sized concrete footings for these soil conditions. I have shimmed it up for now but belive the sinking will continue. Any thoughts on a simple repair that does now include tearing the entire deck out.

Greg.
